How is this object or story important to you?

These menus are important because they gave an insight into the historical development of Scarborough by analysing the cuisines within it. Using this, I was able to gain an insight into the immigration policies as well as the cultural developments in Canada by elaborating on Scarborough.

What does it add to the story of Toronto?

The cuisine we acquired shows that Scarborough, which initially had a Caucasian majority, had soon developed to include a more diverse and hybrid selection of food, including Jamaican and Central American cuisine. This relates to the increase in the immigration of the non-white population after the 1950s which also concerns the immigration policies of Canada as a whole.
