It was given to me by my father. The watch was a token for his 25 years of work at one of the first insurance company in Toronto Imperial Life.

It is important because it relates to the business history of Toronto in the late 19th to early 20th centuries. The company doesn't exist anymore as it was bought by Desjardins.
