Celadon Korean "white ware" vase.
How is this object or story important to you?
Given to me by my mother, an avid collector of East Asian ceramics and pottery, I had taken for granted these beautiful works of art and testaments to thousands of years of history and skill.
I started working at the Aga Khan Museum, where I learned about trade along the Silk Route between the east and the west, and learned how much cultural exchange transpired through art. My history here in Toronto began thousands of years ago along the Silk Trade Route, and now, in my home sits this beautiful part of my culture.
What does it add to the story of Toronto?
It bridges my history and culture to where I work and live now. It helps me appreciate my fortunate circumstances.
How did you acquire it?
From my mother.
